Advance Directives or Advanced Healthcare Directives are written declarations of a person’s preferences or wishes that they may have pertaining to medical care. This legal document is made to ensure those preferences are followed out in the event the person is unable to express them to a physician or a doctor. Events include situations that occur where a person may fall to an illness or become incapacitated. The directive is what healthcare professionals will follow, regardless of the pleas of family members.
